Manifesting Your Dreams: Why It Gets Hard Before It Gets Good

Have you been actively trying to manifest big, new ideas into your life, only to find yourself feeling worse than when you started? When we begin to step into our full power, working to manifest our dreams, everything that has held us back up to this point tends to rise to the surface.

Recently, I’ve been manifesting some bold new ideas. I was eagerly anticipating the Lions Gate, a powerful astrological period known for potential manifestation. However, on that very day, August 8, I felt horrible. It was as if all my insecurities were suddenly in the spotlight. How could I possibly manifest anything with all these negative, overwhelming feelings in the way? I was frustrated and confused. Why, just as I was on the brink of creating my dreams, did it feel like I’d taken one step forward and a hundred steps back?

In tears, I reached out to a dear friend and mentor. With her wise and gentle guidance, she reminded me of a truth I had forgotten: When we set out to manifest our dreams, we often come face-to-face with the very feelings that have been holding us back. Everything we need to feel and release in order to achieve our dreams rises to the surface. It’s funny because this is something I know so well! But when we’re stuck in the muck, it’s hard to see the bigger picture.

If you’re manifesting anything in your life right now, I invite you to be very gentle with yourself. Here are some ideas for working with the energies that you're experiencing...

  • Stay present with what’s coming up.

  • Write down the uncomfortable feelings or situations that are happening. Get it out on paper.

  • Instead of trying to push through and stay positive, sit with the discomfort. Feel everything.

  • Have a conversation with your feelings. What do they want you to know?

For example, if you’re manifesting a new relationship, you might experience uncomfortable feelings around deserving love or doubting the possibility of finding the right match. When these feelings arise, spend time with them. Notice where you feel this discomfort in your body. Ask yourself, "When was the earliest time in my life I felt this way? How old was I? What does that younger version of me need right now?" By truly feeling your feelings, you gain a deeper understanding of yourself, allowing you to move past these blocks. If you try to simply stay positive and focus on what you want, these unresolved feelings will continue to surface, blocking the path to your heart’s desire.

This doesn’t mean you should stop moving in the direction of your dreams. The only way to reach your goals is by moving through—not around—the energies and emotions that have been blocking your way.

This is especially true during the powerful full moon. The full moon is a time for things to come to fruition, but it’s also a time to let go of what no longer serves us. Can you see how the two are related?

If this resonates with you, I’d love to hear about your experiences. Are you encountering any big blocks as you manifest your desires? Leave a comment below and let’s connect.

With love,
Carrie
